Will You Be Assimilated?

For years I’ve been warning you about the dangers and futility of social media. I have t-shirts in my shop, some of them the very first designs, that talk about what is really the product in the Facebook world. Finally the truth has come out – read about it in mainstream media – and for some reason you are all surprised that you and all the personal information that you posted have been used as the product.

This Old Government

One of my favorite guilty pleasures is a show on PBS called ‘This Old House”. Its the original reality show where they find some people who own a house that needs updating. On the episode where they introduce us to the house, they go through with the owners of what looks like a perfectly livable house and look at all the problems they have with it; Continue reading “This Old Government”

It’s Not Always Bad News

When I was growing up it was just assumed that anytime the telephone rang after 10 o’clock it was bad news – or if you were lucky it was just a drunk dialing a wrong number. But nobody had anything positive and important to say that couldn’t wait until tomorrow. Today however, its a 24-hour world and there a lot more methods of communication to worry about.

Take for example the strange text message I received from my adult daughter several months ago. It was around ten o’clock at night and all she asked was to verify my middle name. Of course at that time of night my mind went to the worst spot it could find and since I only had a text there was no way of telling her stress level. I pictured her filling out next-of-kin questions in a hospital form at the ER.

I replied that she had the name right and then asked what the hell was going on. She explained that she was filling out a passport application and went on to ask what years her mother and I were born.

My heart rate now returning to normal I responded with the birthday information and then jokingly asked if she was planning to leave the country because of the new presidential administration. But she explained that her family was going to Mexico for spring break. I told her that I already had my passport (which surprised her) and could I please go along. All I got back was a smiling emoticon. I get no respect from my off-spring.

Do Not Be Afraid

The Cubs have won the World Series, an egotistical, reality TV star is president-elect of the U.S. and scientists have discovered that the cause of global warming is the cold air all being used to freeze Hell over. (OK I made up the last one.) Still with all of this happening, my guess is nothing much will change. Continue reading “Do Not Be Afraid”

As Easy As A.B.C. ***UPDATED!***

WikiLeaks has released a group of emails from the DNC that shows a portrait of graft and conspiracy. Some examples are below and you can find a huge list on memoryholeblog.com.

When I first heard the controversy over the Hillary Clinton emails my first thought was “Why was she using a private server?” As a former network administrator I know of no good reason to set up a private email server and lots of bad reasons. I also know how hard it is to keep any server secure. This private server was setup when State Department’s policy was that all normal operations were to be on an authorized system.

ExtremelyCarelessThe pattern of questionable conduct seems to go on and on. When the House Oversight Committee asked if she had used private email the did not reply. This could be considered lying by omission. The State Department later responds without a satisfactory answer. Later the State Department told the committee investigating the Benghazi tragedy that Clinton used the private server exclusively as Secretary of State. The list of ethical questions goes on if you study the story.

Now, I have no problem with personal email accounts. Hell, I have four at last count. A personal email is not a problem until someone with clearance sends classified information through an unsecured server. That is the big problem there. The FBI called it “Extremely Careless.” Do you think someone who wants to be president should be allowed to be “Extremely Careless” with classified material?

I think the answer to that last question is as easy as ABC! Anyone But Clinton.
