Happy first day of spring everybody. Despite what the groundhog may have predicted for your area, in my backyard the equinox is bringing with it cold rain and wintry mix. But even though I’ve been bitching loud and long about winter, I have a confession. Spring has been hanging out in my backyard the whole time.Continue reading Where Spring Spends The Off Season
When Snowball and I moved back to her family’s homestead to take care of her mother, we had big plans for making it a place for all of the family members to visit and enjoy. Little did we know how much work was going to be involved.Continue reading Attack of the Killer Tomato Cages
A couple of days ago I was using the garden tractor to mow the west forty. That’s my nickname for the orchard area. Its not really 40 acres – the whole property is just under half an acre – but “mowing the west forty” sounds more impressive than “mowing the orchard” which only has three trees so far. Last night, Snowball and her mom and I were having a nice, quiet Friday evening pizza dinner at the Homestead. We were enjoying our customary routine of guessing the puzzles on Wheel of Fortune and looking forward to watching baseball, Royals or Cubs, afterwards. Suddenly there was a knock that sounded just like someone at the front door except it was coming from the floor! Continue reading Downstairs Neighbors
A couple days ago the curmudgeon told you all about the move from the Compound to our new life here on the Homestead. He’s wallowing in blissful ignorance thinking my cell mate Roswell the Maine Coon and I are happy here. Continue reading I’m Not Happy About This!
I know many of you have been asking why I haven’t written anything lately. Well you know that old saying about life getting in the way? Life didn’t just get in the way, it took a hard left turn and then hit me in the face. Continue reading Where Has The Curmudgeon Been?
This summer mother-of-Snowball built a sun room for her myriad of plants. During the process I snapped regular pictures from a camera I set up to watch the show. It was like a live feed of ‘This Old House’. We’ve all been very happy with the result. Also very happy just that the process is done. Continue reading How to Build a Sun Room
Extent of Injuries: Sprained ankle, numerous cuts and contusions.
Cause of Injuries: Fall from step ladder.
Circumstances of injuries: The unusually nice weather encouraged me to clean the leaves from the gutters on the garage. This hadn’t been done in several years so there was a large accumulation of dead leaves and rotted mulch in addition to the fresh leaves from this year. As a result it was necessary to climb the ladder and use a hand trowel to dig the muck out of the gutter. Continue reading Insurance Claim
My ape has been very busy lately. To earn my Purina I volunteered to write this week’s article. I wanted to show some of the sights around the compound, so I asked to borrow his camera phone. I sure hope he doesn’t mind the tooth marks I left on the iPhone case. How else was I supposed to carry it? Continue reading A Pet’s Point of View
